Sanjay N. Smith, MD
Sanjay N. Smith, M.D., is a fellowship trained ophthalmologist who specializes in medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts. Dr. Smith attained his undergraduate degree from the prestigious Ivy League of the University of Pennsylvania. He then received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.
This was followed by an internship in the general surgery department at Flushing Medical Center in New York. Dr. Smith completed his ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College, Brooklyn and Queens division, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Smith completed a glaucoma fellowship at the renowned University of Pennsylvania, Scheie Eye Institute. After concluding his fellowship, he was awarded the National Medical Associations’ Fellows Award for Outstanding Research in Ophthalmology. Dr. Smith served as director of glaucoma services at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, NY, and at the Brooklyn Eye Institute at Brookdale Hospital.
He has special interests in minimal invasive laser and surgical management of glaucoma. Dr. Smith is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Florida Medical Association, the Florida Society of Ophthalmology and the National Medical Association.
